Making America Great Again?
November 3, 2016
Make America great again!” “Build the wall!” “Our leaders are stupid!” Unless you have been living under a rock, you know of the notorious man who has said these things, along with many more, some worse. It is of course, the very much hated, yet very much loved, Donald Trump. Most voters today would not vote for Trump, due to the fact that he is repeatedly put on the spotlight for some of the offensive things he has said throughout the 2016 election. However, voters don’t often get to see the honorable things he has said and the great things that he plans to do for America. Because of those things, I am a Trump supporter.
Living with my father, a huge Trump fan, who always seems to have some kind of political news channel on, I started to really get into politics and current events. Due to these reports seen about Trump, most students and millennials turned against him; however, I actually became a fan. Now, I do admit, he is far from being the best presidential candidate, but I do believe that, compared to Hillary Clinton, he is the lesser of two evils. I do not support all of his political viewpoints, such as his plan to build a wall along the U.S./Mexican border and place a ban on Muslims entering the United States. These are both unrealistic due to the fact that Congress would not allow a ban to be placed on an entire religion, and because there would not be enough money to pay for such a wall. However, Trump has made quite a few valid points.
I support Trump because he speaks for the common people. Most politicians talk about the “American Dream” and make big promises that they never keep, but Trump talks about concerns of the middle class and wants to bring jobs back to the United States. With 93 million people out of work, that’s something we desperately need.
I choose him because he does not fully rely on donors to fund his presidential campaign, he also uses his own personal money. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, has relied on donors to fund her campaign and to produce her advertisements. This year alone, she has spent $104 million on advertisements, while Trump has only spent $12.4 million.
One of the biggest reasons I support Trump is because he is not Hillary Clinton. I think Clinton is the worst possible candidate for commander in chief, because she is untrustworthy. The email scandal alone should have been enough evidence. She is not fit to be president. Making your own, non-government, certified email server to use in official matters, then lying about it when it is hacked and 33,000 emails are released to the public, including emails with classified U.S. Government information, is not presidential material.
Some say that Trump is too blunt and has no filter. This is not something you usually see in a normal politician. Then again, Trump isn’t your typical politician, which may not necessarily be a bad thing. While some of the things he has said may be considered rude and uncalled for, it shows that Trump is not afraid to say what is on his mind and is willing to stick up for himself, as well as America. That is why he has made it this far, and why he should be the next president.
